Monarchs Fall to Chaffey 23-13 in Season Opener
Battling a Chaffey squad that finished last season with a perfect 11-0 record, the Monarchs (0-1) entered Grigsby Field with plans to spoil the Panthers' season opener. However, it was the Panthers' night to shine, scoring 20 unanswered points in the first three quarters before the Monarchs finally put points on the board in the fourth. But time was not in their favor as they fell 23-13.
Daryus Warren was the primary passer, racking up 12 completions in 26 attempts, his primary reciever being Dominic Arango-Serna, whose four completions were good for 26 yards. It was the ground attack, however, that plagued the Monarchs, who struggled to advance the football.
The Monarchs now prepare for their home opener Saturday night at 6:00 when they host the Compton Tartars (0-1).
